''IV'' EP
(OSTET)
A modern art piece featuring a partial classical marble sculpture of a face with flowing hair, surrounded by geometric patterns in black, bronze, and beige with gold accents.

I release my music under the pseudonym 'OSTET'. This name is a combination of the Turkish single-letter word 'o' (which corresponds to 'he, she, it' in English) and 'esthete', one of the three ways Søren Kierkegaard presented as possible paths for human self-realization.

'IV', featuring producers from four different countries, is a unique blend of traditional and modern trap sounds. The productions, inspired by a vast geography stretching from East to West, sometimes reflect the 'Turkish mafia' spirit, while at other times taking the listener on a walk through a monastery courtyard.

The lyrics were completed on a journey starting from Turkey and extending to Georgia, Malaysia, the Czech Republic and Denmark. Respecting the time needed for the lyrical structure to mature, I rewrote some parts while leaving others to the authenticity of freestyle.

Being my first EP, I tried to stay true to the essence of hip-hop. While synthesizing traditional and modern sounds in the instrumentals, I mostly preferred the Boom Bap form in the vocal structure. Because that's how I love it, that's what suits me. Still, it's possible to hear modern trap vocals in certain parts of the songs.
