Outlanders

I am photographer and currently continuing this photography project that I started in 2017. Karma works, I cross paths with other strangers and I record it via camera. It's like a diary.

In a world that's constantly moving and changing, it's easy to feel like a stranger to yourself and those around you. It's a feeling that many of us experience at some point in our lives, and it can be a difficult and lonely experience.

Moments of loneliness and isolation. People apparently cut off from the world around them. But at the same time, the connection points show that we are a part of the world and the people around us, even in our moments of disconnection.

In the course of time, "outlanders", which I started with the aim of attracting people in the geography I live in (at least the society in front of us has difficulty accepting); Although it is divided into many sub-projects such as ‘’BOY'', ‘’Graffiti in Bosphorus'' and ‘’A,N.O.N.Y.M.'', I enjoy producing works based on the concept of ''other''.

A person spray painting a colorful design on a large vehicle, possibly a bus or truck, during dusk or early evening.
A person wearing a beanie and face covering, giving a thumbs up while sitting on a bench, with a blurred background and a reflection on a glass surface.
A person wearing a black mask and dark clothing standing beside a train or bus with graffiti on it on a railway track during nighttime, with city buildings and power lines in the background.

It's a message that's particularly relevant in today's fast-paced world, where we are constantly bombarded with information and distractions.

We can easily lose sight of who we are and what we want in life.

Two masked men crouching against a wall at night, one on a phone, the other with a raised fist, beside a person lying on the ground, all wearing dark clothing, in a gritty urban setting.

But the project reminds us that we are not alone in our feelings of disconnection. We all experience moments of uncertainty and confusion, and it's okay to take the time to explore those feelings and find our way back to ourselves.

In a society that often values productivity and success above all else, it's easy to forget the importance of introspection and self-discovery. But we must remember strongly that these things are essential to our well-being and happiness.

Black and white photo of narrow city alley between tall, historic buildings with ornate architectural details.

It's okay to take a step back from the chaos of the world and focus on ourselves for a while.

A hand and forearm in black lace sleeve holding a black rose up against a light-colored background with faint line patterns.

Ultimately, it is a testament to the power of art to capture the complexities of the human experience. When I started "Outlanders", I dreamed of a visual narrative addressing the universal struggle of being a stranger to oneself and the world, with photographs. It was a message that resonated with all of us and that we could all take seriously as we made our way through this world.

I hope to shed light on the importance of self discovery and connection through the project. I want to encourage people to take the time to explore their inner selves and find a sense of belonging to the world. From my perspective, I explore the concept of being a stranger to myself and the world, as well as the emotions that come with it.
